Pacific Ninebark - One of the Most Suitable Plants For Bioengineering

Pacific Ninebark is also referred to as tall ninebark. Its scientific name is Physocarpus capitatus. It is one of the Oregon native plants that are seen commonly in Western parts of North America. It features a flaky bark with multiple layers which peel away. It belongs to the category of deciduous shrub and can grow as tall as 3 meters. Flowers usually form during the period of April to July.

Pacific ninebark has a preference towards partially shaded regions but can tolerate full exposure to sun. It survives in medium, course and finely textured acidic soils. Coastal mountains where there is a steep slope bear witness to rapid growth of this plant. Stream banks, lakes, swampy areas and moist forests are also some of the typical places where one can find these Oregon native plants growing abundantly.

Its roots are fibrous and have the capacity to form roots from cuttings. This makes it a suitable plant for techniques of bioengineering. Small mammals and birds nest inside the cover provided by the plant. It is used as ornamental plant. It has emetic, laxative and purgative properties and has been used extensively for these purposes. What is the Art of Lucid Dreaming?

Simply stated, when you know that you are dreaming while being inside a dream, you are having a lucid dream.

But that's only a basic description. Such dreams are different than the normal ones. It requires persistence and a fair amount of time, but you can learn to fully control them, increase their vividness and length.

For me, this art (because that's how it should be called) consists of something more than just realizing that your are inside your head, and then going with the flow of events. Sure, it might be fun, but the real joy begins when one learns to control the dream.

The freedom in lucid dreams is, lacking a better word, pure. With a little training you can learn to do everything you want. You could fly, go on a date with somebody you secretly love (or do more, you know what I mean), take part in a great battle, play in your favorite movie/game. Possibilities are endless.

Another twist is that there are absolutely no consequences of your actions. It's obvious when talking about social ones, but what about your health? Good news - lucid dreams don't have any kind of negative impact on your body or mind. You rest just as if you were dreaming the normal way. You can even use the control you have to prevent nightmares, or change them into something pleasurable if they already began.

In addition to providing fun and stopping nightmares, you can use those dreams for more practical things, like rehearsals before a concert, giving an important speech etc.

As you can see, there is no reason to remain in the regular dreamworld, without consciousness. Very few people gain lucidity naturally, but that doesn't mean the rest of us is doomed. Everybody can learn this art at any age, it only takes time and dedication.

Camiguin - White Island

Off the northern shores of Camiguin is a popular sand bar called White Island. If you want to detach yourself from the buzz of city life, this is probably the best place to be. White Island is completely covered with fine white sand and surrounded by clear seawater. There are no trees, no bars and restaurants. It is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, and total relaxation.

White Island is popular for its sensitivity to the ocean tide. At high tide, the island would appear smaller. This is what excited me and my friends. So after checking in our resort at Camiguin, we immediately booked a trip going to White Island. We originally wanted to spend a day there but we arrived in Camiguin at lunchtime. We simply had to settle with a half-day stay at this famous sand bar. But it was meant to be! There are no shades in the island aside from a few cottages that are anchored near the shorelines. Locals recommend to go very early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the glaring heat of the sun.We hired a boat to take us to

The price of the boat ride depends on which resort you are staying at. We stayed at Golden Sunset Beach Resort and was charged Php500 for the round trip. A one-way ride is approximately 5 minutes. We arrived at White Island at 3pm and no matter how long we wanted to stay, we had to leave before 6pm. There is no electricity in the island. It relied primarily on the sun for light. Of course the boats will leave you there if you insist in staying. But there is no way you will be able to go back to your resort if in the middle of the night you change your mind.

Our 2-hour stay in White Island was perfect. I didn't want to burden myself from re-applying sunscreen every hour. If you want to go sunbathing, I suggest you bring your own big umbrella to shield yourself from the sun. There are no beach chairs and no umbrellas. You may also want to bring your own food if you are planning to stay there longer. Although there are occasional food vendors, they are not always present.

Mount Hibok Hibok, Mount Mambajao, and an old volcano serve as backdrops to White Island.
